Trading Online
With the continued growth of people using the internet
selling online is becoming a great way to sell your products or
services. You need a good looking website. I
wouldn't recommend flash or anything like that simply because not every
computer will have flash installed or enabled. What you might think
looks great might not to someone that can't see that moving object in
the middle of the page! Make your website look
clean and tidy and easy to navigate around.
Getting traffic to your website is obviously essential
but it isn't easy. You need to think about a
good domain name possibly using keywords that you want people to find
you with but also keep it short and snappy.
You
might want to think about submitting your site to DMOZ. If you get
listed in this, and it can take some time, Google will rate your site
much higher than those not listed. DMOZ is free to list but another good
directory to get listed in is the Yahoo directory although you have to
pay a yearly fee if you are a commercial organisation.
If you are serious about selling online you will
eventually realise that you need to use the services of a good SEO
company. A good SEO company will tell you exactly what they are doing to
get your website to the top of Google and the other search engines. We
would always recommend ringing a couple of the SEO's current customers
if that is possible. Pay per click advertising
You can pay the search engines to have your website
listed in the sponsored areas. Google adwords is just one example.
Basically you only pay when someone clicks on the advert.
